Fifty 5 Fitness Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer

Fifty 5 Fitness is growing! We are looking for a Group Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer to join our team!

If you are energetic, passionate, organized and a hard-working individual that would like to teach clients ranging in ages from 20-80 years old, consider joining our team of Instructors & Trainers!

Skills Required:

  • Group Fitness Instructor Certification (required) – a minimum of 2 years
  • Personal Training Certificate (CSEP-CPT, MFC, Canfitpro or equivalent - required) - a minimum of 1 year experience
  • Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Certificate or Active Older Adult Certification through Manitoba Fitness Council (preferred)
  • Kinesiology Degree, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Valid CPR-C and AED certified (required)

We are looking for an Instructor & Personal Trainer who could work evenings and weekends. Be able to instruct up to 16 clients through a group class. Motivate the clients while offering modifications when needed.

Call for Participation in Exercise Addiction Research

Students at The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV are invited to participate in a research project investigating exercise addiction. This study has been approved by the University of the Fraser Valley Ethics Board and given institutional permission from The University of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.

The study is aimed at students who are physically active at least three times per week for a minimum of 20-30 minutes each session in a non-interruptive manner for at least the past six months, and participants will be asked to take part in a Zoom-based focus group discussion session on a one-time basis for approximately 60 minutes. We are recruiting people with a range of exercise patterns to better understand the perspectives of all types of exercisers.

Information derived from the focus groups will be confidential; no identifying information is requested. Once data have been entered into the computer all identifying characteristics will be removed and the original data shredded in December 2025. The ID codes will be known only to the research supervisor, Dr. Emilio Landolfi, and will be stored in password-protected electronic files.

Participation in the project is voluntary. Participants may withdraw from the study at any time, and no evaluative judgments will be made. Groww Open Access Program

If you don’t qualify for the cohort program or don’t think it’s for you, you can join the GROWW Open Access Program and learn more about girl’s and women’s health.

This program is available for anyone who has an interest in learning about topics related to girl’s and women’s health. Online seminars, and a curated reading list of 10-20 foundational articles will be available to advance knowledge in a given topic area or methodology.

Fit Kids Healthy Kids Program Facilitator Part Time Position (¶¡ÏãÔ°AV)

Fit Kids Healthy Kids is seeking a Program Facilitator to deliver programming based on physical literacy and the development of fundamental movement skills. Availability must include days, evenings, and weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid in the outreach to agencies, programs, and events, in specified but not limited to low income, underserved communities in ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and Manitoba to promote the Fit Kids Healthy Kids program and physical literacy.
  • Assist in planning, creating, implementing, organizing, and facilitating Fit Kids Healthy Kids programming throughout Manitoba.
  • Facilitate weekly programs with various community partners based on fundamental movement skills and the Fit Kids Healthy Kids model.
  • Facilitate community large community events within ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and surrounding areas.
  • Act as a role model for the children and youth involved in all aspects of the program.
  • Work with and lead community partners, volunteers, and youth mentors.
  • Build leadership capacity at the community level.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Have or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Education, Health Promotion, or in a related field.
  • Experience working with and delivering children’s programming for multiple ages. The ability to work with children under 6 is preferred.
  • Experience in a gym setting developing programs and leading multi-skill games.
  • Ability to carry and transport equipment for programming.
  • The ability and willingness to travel throughout the designated region and work irregular hours when deemed necessary.  Access to a reliable motor vehicle and a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search that has been done within 6 months of application to the position.

Technical/Job Specific Knowledge:

  • Aware of and/or understand:
    • Community development principles and approaches.
    • Benefits of physical activity and understanding of the importance of physical literacy in the LTAD (long term athlete development) model.
    • Working with diverse communities.
    • Managing projects, programs, and special events.
  • Skills and Attributes
    • Strong organization, planning, oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Ability and energy to work with children 2-12 as a leader and role model.
    • Knowledge and ability to work in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint)
